Aaaaah bath time with the kids…. It’s a fun time of day in our house. Well maybe not for the littlest one yet – she’s still kind of terrified of the process. But in her defense, she’s only had a handful of them to date, so she still has amateur status.
But Matt is our bath veteran. He picks out his jammies, splashes in the water, holds his breath when we rinse the bubbles from his hair, and smiles ear to ear when it’s time to bundle up in a big cozy towel.
I generally prefer to shower in the morning, partially to wake up, and also to just start the day fresh. But bath time for kids makes so much sense at the end of the day. A chance to wind down before bedtime and wash away the meal remnants, the mud from the park, and the evidence of any other craziness or adventures gotten into that day.
It reminds me of an adjustment. Life happens each and every day. And that means stress happens too. Sometimes stress sticks onto our bodies from good activities, like eating or exercising. Sometimes it stems from negative sources — like a rude coworker, a car accident, eating too much junk food, sleeping on the couch, or fighting off a bad cold.
But an adjustment works to reset your nerve system and body despite this “dirt” or stress. It takes the effects of those stressors off the nerves so that your body can start to heal and function more normally.
Imagine skipping your child’s bath for months or years. The amount of dirt and stink that piled up would be unreal. Their poor little bodies would probably itch or hurt, or worse.
Sadly, some people go months or years without an adjustment. Some people have never been adjusted in their entire life. Imagine the stresses that could start to pile up and impact how well they show up to life and how they feel.
