New Year’s is one of the flashier, more glamorous holidays… Parties, dressing up, music, staying out late, limos, Uber rides, champagne toasts, decadent snacks and desserts, noisemakers and even confetti surround us as we watch the ball drop and ring in the new year! Or for those of us with wee ones…. a quick cheers at 10pm (after all, it was the new year in Eastern time zone by then!) and off to bed so as to have some energy the next day!
I think the New Year holiday is popular for everyone because it offers us a chance to reflect on the past year and start anew for the coming one. It’s something we can all share in as we breathe a big breath of fresh air and say “this year will be different”. (Or better, or the same — depending on your goals and what’s going on for you.)
I’m not huge into New Year’s Resolutions, but I do think it’s smart to evaluate your life and goals periodically. Things like career, lifestyle, eating habits, exercise, health, hobbies, attitude, goals – the list could go on and on. There are many aspects of our lives that we can focus on, improve, change, or work on to make our lives more fulfilling, happy, healthy, prosperous and positive.
Health As A Goal
Health isn’t always sparkly, flash, or pretty. There are ups and downs, sniffles and sneezes, pain and discomfort mixed in with days that feel great. There are consequences to all our actions – whether on purpose or accidental, and hard choices to be made at times. There are so many aspects of health: sleep, diet, stress, attitude, exercise, etc. Sometimes we are doing great in certain aspects while neglecting other aspects. Sometimes we have a great month when it all seems to fall into place.
Chiropractic And Stress
More and more in today’s world, stressors of all types – physical, emotional, chemical and even environmental – are impacting our bodies and nerve systems, often in a negative way. These stressors begin to pile up and cause havoc and symptoms that impact our day to day life.
Chiropractic adjustments remove the stress that has piled up on our spines and nerves. This frees up those nerves to help the body heal and function more efficiently. What does that mean for you? A body that is a more “well-oiled machine” that can fight off sickness faster, recover more quickly, and fend off future stress, pain and problems more easily.
Happy New Year!
